"Dear Asbury~Solomons,
Thank you for being you. Five years ago, when we ended our search for the perfect CCRC, it was love at first sight. It took 4 years to sell our beautiful mountain home, but the wait ended with a great new home! We could not have received a greater blessing than our apartment with a view of the Patuxent River.
Residents and associates so quickly made us feel a part of the community. We were invited to participate in functions before the boxes were unpacked.
A year later, we’re unpacked, but not settled. We are having too much fun enjoying swimming, boating, eating, cards, woodshop, museums, symphony, crafts, computer club, movies, season parties, Betty’s Closet, Granny’s Treasures, the library, and talking in the hallways, to name a few.
Thanks for becoming our last residence."

"Living at Asbury~Solomons is like living at a resort on the water. You have so many things to do that you need to slow yourself down. Fitness classes, outings, fishing, events are only a few of the things to do. I know that my children no longer have to worry about me. You have someone to call in case of emergency. You also have friendly facilities staff to work on your “Honey Do” list. How special I feel every day as I watch the sunset on the water."

"My wife and I are “second generation” residents of Asbury~Solomons Island, my mother having been a resident here several years ago. We decided to make the move in our early 70’s while the decision was still ours and not that of our children. We have now been here two and one half years, and loved every moment of it. Our apartment overlooks the beautiful Patuxent River, and we enjoy the sunsets and ever changing river views.
Life here is one full of choices of things to get involved in, and both of our calendars stay full. Louise has been involved with the Elves (making ornaments for the Calvert Hospice tree) is serving on the Library Committee, sings in the Vesper Choir, and participates in exercise classes. I enjoy playing billiards and chess, deliver newspapers two mornings each week, assist residents with problems they encounter with their Comcast remotes, enjoy participating in the exercise classes, have a plot in the Asbury garden where I raise tomatoes and flowers, and also sing in the Vesper Choir. We both have joined in the Computer Club, and this year we are chairing the Associate Christmas Fund and party. Several of the widows living here have found that I am pretty good at opening food jars and medicine bottles for them! We also are still involved with outside activities with which we were affiliated before moving here – Louise with her church choir and me with the local Lions Club.
Whenever possible, we like to travel and spend time at our RV trailer on Maryland’s Eastern Shore during the summer months. After informing Asbury’s front desk of where we will be and how long we expect to be away, there is much peace of mind in not having to worry about anything happening at our home during our absence.
We were told before making the move that the residents here were like a big family, and we both have certainly found this to be true. The concern for each other is second to none, and much greater than could ever be found living in a residential home. It is also very comforting to know that if either of us needs additional care it is available right here at Asbury~Solomons Island – either through the Home Health Care Program or through a move to Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing. And when the time comes that life here on earth ends for either of us, we know that we will have the love and support of the many new friends we have made.
We unhesitatingly frequently recommend living here to our friends, and fully expect that several of them will one day also happily call this their home."
